The INKEY List Hyperpigmentation & Scar Solution Routine is a four-step set assembled for one specific situation: pronounced dark patches, post-acne scarring and discolouration that leave skin looking uneven in both tone and texture. Two of the four products do the heavy lifting — the Fulvic Acid Cleanser, and the Scar, Mark and Wrinkle Solution at 1% retinol — while the Hyaluronic Acid Serum, plus a Peptide Moisturizer, keep skin hydrated throughout.
What it actually does
- Fulvic Acid Cleanser works on tone. Nordic peat and Kakadu plum — a vitamin C-rich ingredient — are there to help even out uneven skin tone, lift radiance and reduce the look of hyperpigmentation, according to the brand.
- The Scar, Mark and Wrinkle Solution carries their highest retinol level in The INKEY List range, aimed at reducing the appearance of scarring left behind by blemishes. The brand calls it clinically proven for improving skin texture and appearance.
- Hyaluronic Acid Serum, with the Peptide Moisturizer, plays support, keeping skin hydrated and comfortable while the actives do their work.
- It explains the problem it's solving. The brand's own framing: scarring comes from the body producing too much or too little collagen while repairing damaged tissue, while hyperpigmentation comes from melanocytes overproducing melanin, which creates the darker patches.
- A full sequence rather than a single product. Cleanse, hydrate, treat, moisturise, protect — all four steps are in the box.
How to use
- Clean. Work a raspberry-sized dose of the Fulvic Acid Cleanser into damp skin across face and neck for a minimum of 60 seconds, then rinse well.
- Hydrate. A few drops of Hyaluronic Acid Serum next.
- Treat — evenings only. A pea-sized amount of the 1% retinol solution, massaged over face and neck. Start at one application every five to seven days and build to every two or three days only if your skin handles this strength.
- Moisturise. Finish with the Peptide Moisturizer, a blueberry-sized dose across face and neck.
- SPF. In the morning, sunscreen is the last thing that goes on.
The routine runs morning and evening, but the 1% retinol step is reserved for nights only. The brand strongly recommends patch testing before the first use and whenever you add something new.
Is it right for you?
Yes, if your skin has
- Pronounced dark patches or discolouration
- Marks or scarring left over from acne
- Uneven-looking tone and texture together
- Enough tolerance for a high-percentage retinol, introduced slowly
Think twice if you
- Are new to retinol — this is the brand's strongest, not a starter
- React to most actives and have not patch tested
- Cannot wear sunscreen daily
- Already own most of these four products
