Drunk Elephant A-Passioni™ Retinol Cream is the brand's full-strength retinol: a 1.0% vegan retinol in a cream base, built for lines, sun damage and uneven tone. It pairs the active with peptides and skin-replenishing lipids so the formula pushes results without the usual retinol drama.

What it actually does

• Targets fine lines and wrinkles. The 1.0% retinol works on the look of uneven tone and rough texture — Drunk Elephant positions this as its treatment for visible signs of sun damage and age.
• Backs the retinol with peptides. A blend of three peptides is included to visibly firm, and the brand says it amplifies what the retinol is doing.
• Cushions with vitamin F. Fatty acids and a mix of oils are there to top up lipids and moisture, keeping skin calmer while the active does its job.
• Skips common irritants. No fragrance, no silicones, no essential oils. The formula is vegan and cruelty-free, in recyclable packaging.
• Brand-reported study results. Drunk Elephant cites an 8-week clinical study of 31 people in which every participant showed firmer, more elastic-looking skin, 96% showed fewer visible lines and 93% showed smoother texture. Brand-run study — individual results vary.

How to use

1. Start with clean, dry skin, morning or night.
2. A pea-sized amount (or less) is enough for the whole face. Keep it away from the eye area.
3. New to retinol? Begin once or twice a week, move to every other night, then nightly as your skin allows.
4. You can blend it into any Drunk Elephant cream or oil to soften the delivery — the brand calls this making a "smoothie".
5. Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning while using retinol.

Is 1.0% retinol too strong for a beginner?

It's a high-strength dose, which is why Drunk Elephant's own directions say to ease in: once or twice weekly at first, building up gradually. The peptides and vitamin F in the formula are there specifically to keep skin comfortable along the way.

Can I mix it with other products?

Yes — Drunk Elephant designs its range to be blended together. The brand suggests mixing a pea of A-Passioni™ with its B-Hydra™ and Lala™ (each sold separately) for added hydration alongside the retinol.
