MAKE UP FOR EVER Precision Corrector Brush – 172 is a firm, flat, angled brush for putting concealer and corrector exactly where it belongs. MAKE UP FOR EVER borrowed the beveled shape from their liner brushes, which is what gives it such a clean, controlled stroke.

What it actually does

• Corrects small areas accurately. The brand's intended use is covering specific concerns — dark circles and fine lines are the two they name.
• Leaves a clean edge. The straight, beveled tip lays down a crisp stroke instead of a vague smudge, so you aren't spreading concealer over skin that didn't need it.
• Firm, not floppy. Stiffness is the point here: it lets you push pigment into the exact spot and keep it there.

How to use

1. Pick up a small amount of concealer or corrector on the flat face of the brush — this head is not meant to be loaded heavily.
2. Draw it onto the area you're covering. Under the eye, over a dark patch, or along a line, using the beveled edge for control.
3. Pat, don't sweep. Tap the product in with the flat of the brush so coverage stays where you placed it.
4. Use the tip for lips if you want a sharper lip line or a fuller-looking shape.
5. Clean after every cream product. Lukewarm water and gentle shampoo, reshape the edge, dry flat so the bevel stays sharp.

Questions

Is it only for under-eye concealer?

That's one of its main jobs — the brand cites dark circles and wrinkles as the sort of thing it's designed to cover — but it works anywhere you want precise correction, and it doubles as a lip definition brush.

Can I use powder with it?

MAKE UP FOR EVER recommends cream and liquid textures for the 172. For setting powder, use a brush made for powders.

Why is it angled instead of straight across?

The bevel comes from liner brush design. It gives you a sharper point of contact, so you can be far more exact than a rounded concealer brush allows.
