ARCH™ BROW SCULPTING PENCIL

Hourglass Arch™ Brow Sculpting Pencil solves the usual brow problem of needing three products. The triangular tip is cut so one edge draws a crisp outline and the broad face fills, and the formula pulls together what a powder, a pencil and a wax each do on their own. A grooming brush sits on the opposite end.

What it actually does

• Combines three finishes in one lead. Hourglass describes the buildable formula as merging powder, pencil and wax to make brows look naturally fuller.
• The tip shape does real work. The distinctive triangular point means you get a thin edge for the outline and a wider one for filling without swapping tools.
• Builds gradually. Because it is buildable you can start sparse and add, rather than laying down too much pigment in the first stroke.
• Includes a brush. The double-ended component carries a brush on the other end for blending and setting the hairs in place.
• Formulated without parabens, phthalates and triclosan. Hourglass lists it as vegan and cruelty-free.

How to use

1. Twist up a touch — just enough lead to expose the tip.
2. Outline the shape you want using the wider edge of the triangular tip to map the top and bottom lines of the brow.
3. Fill the gaps with small, short strokes wherever the brow reads thin, keeping the pressure light so it stays believable.
4. Switch ends and brush through to groom the hairs and soften the pigment into them.
5. Layer it with other pieces from the Arch Brow range if you want more dimension — the brand suggests it works alone or stacked.

Do I need a separate brow gel with it?

Not necessarily — there is a wax element in the formula and a brush on the second end for grooming. If your hairs are coarse or unruly you may still want a gel over the top, and the brand says this layers happily with the rest of the Arch Brow collection.

Does it need sharpening?

No — it is a mechanical pencil, so you twist the lead up as you use it. The triangular shape is what keeps the precision, so reveal only a little at a time to avoid rounding it off.

Will it look too harsh on sparse brows?

That depends on pressure more than the product. Use small strokes in the thin areas, stop before the brow reads solid, then brush through — the grooming brush is what breaks up any hard edges.
