Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Firming Oil is a lightweight facial oil that works on three things at once: brightness, firmness and moisture retention. It pairs an oil-soluble vitamin C (THD ascorbate) with sugarcane-derived squalane and Chios crystal oil, finished with Damascus rose. It's the last step you put on at the end of a routine, not a serum replacement.

What it actually does

• Brightens with a stable vitamin C. THD ascorbate is oil-soluble and far less temperamental than straight ascorbic acid — Biossance uses it specifically for visible brightening without the instability of water-based vitamin C.
• Locks moisture in rather than adding water. Sugarcane-derived squalane is the sealing ingredient here; it's why the brand positions this as the final step that stops everything underneath from evaporating.
• Works on how firm skin looks. Chios crystal oil is included to revitalise and visibly improve firmness, per the brand.
• Feels like a treatment, not a grease layer. The texture is a light oil — intended to be wearable on oily and combination skin, not just dry.

How to use

1. Go last. Cleanse, treat, moisturise — then this, to seal the routine.
2. Warm a few drops in your palms and press them over face and neck instead of rubbing.

4. In the morning, SPF still goes on. Vitamin C and sun protection belong together; an oil doesn't replace sunscreen.

Can I use it if my skin is oily?

Yes — Biossance lists it for normal, dry, combination and oily skin. Squalane is light and skin-familiar, so it tends not to feel heavy. Use two or three drops rather than a full dropper.

Is this vitamin C as strong as a vitamin C serum?

It's a different type. THD ascorbate is an oil-soluble, stable derivative chosen for visible brightening with far less irritation risk than a high-percentage L-ascorbic acid serum. If your goal is aggressive pigmentation work, pair it with a dedicated serum rather than relying on this alone.

Morning or night?

Either, and the brand's own study used it twice a day. At night it's your final layer; in the morning apply it before sunscreen and give it a minute to settle.
