What it actually does

• The well does the measuring. Inspired by a makeup artist's palette, the reservoir in the centre of the head holds your tint and distributes it uniformly instead of letting a thin liquid run off the fibres.

How to use

1. Pump your tint into the well. One pump of Watertone goes into the inner well at the centre of the brush head.
2. Begin in the middle of the face, then buff and blend outwards using circular motions.
3. Move to the chin and the contour of the face next, following the same circular blending.
4. Finish on the forehead. Leaving it last keeps the heaviest coverage off the area that usually needs the least.
5. Rinse it after every use. Water-based formulas dry inside the well — rinse with lukewarm water, use a gentle shampoo, reshape and dry flat.

Do I have to use Watertone with it?

No. MAKE UP FOR EVER designed it around Watertone Skin-Perfecting Tint, but states it is intended for water-based foundations generally. If your base is water-based, the well will work the same way.

What is the well for, exactly?

It's a small reservoir set into the centre of the brush head. Thin, water-based formulas would otherwise slide straight through the fibres; the well holds the product and feeds it out evenly as you blend.

Are the bristles natural or synthetic?
