Bronzer/Blender Brush

The Clinique Bronzer/Blender Brush earns its slash. It is one plush head doing two jobs: laying bronzer across the high points of the face, then softening whatever else you have already applied.

What it actually does

• Places bronzer where light would fall. Clinique frames the application as following the path the sun would naturally take across your face — forehead, cheekbones, bridge of the nose.
• Softens edges. The brand lists blending and highlighting as its other purpose, so it is as useful after colour is down as during.
• Spreads product thinly. A plush head of this size diffuses powder over a wide area rather than depositing it in one concentrated patch, which is what keeps bronzer from looking striped.

How to use

1. Dip or swirl the head into your bronzing powder.
2. Tap off the excess — this brush holds more product than you think.
3. Sweep lightly over the face, concentrating where sunlight would naturally warm the skin, and build up slowly.

Can I use it for blush too?

Clinique describes it for bronzer and for blending generally. It is a broad head, so blush applied with it will sit diffuse and soft rather than concentrated on the apples. If you like a defined flush, a smaller cheek brush gives more control.

Why does my bronzer look patchy with other brushes?

Usually too much product landing in one spot. A plush, wide head spreads what it carries, and tapping off the excess before you touch your face matters more than the technique afterwards.

Is it only for powder?

Clinique's own instructions describe dipping or swirling into powder. Cream bronzers will cling to a plush head and need washing far more often, so powder is the natural partner here.
