What it actually does
- Hydrates on contact. Byoma describes immediate hydration on application, with relief that keeps going rather than fading in an hour.
- Supports the barrier. The Barrier Lipid Complex is Byoma's blend of ceramide and skin-identical lipids delivered in an oil base — the brand's oil-phase counterpart to its Tri-Ceramide Complex — intended to protect and maintain the barrier.
- Calms redness from dryness. The brand says the formula soothes the redness that dry skin causes and helps even out skin tone.
- Softens fine lines. Byoma positions it as visibly reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Byoma's clinical claims. The brand describes the formula as clinically proven to significantly cut redness after a single use, reduce skin sensitivity, reduce fine lines and wrinkles by up to 34% in one week, increase moisturisation immediately, and improve texture after two weeks. These are Byoma's own study results — individual outcomes vary.
- Vetted for reactive skin. Dermatologist tested and approved, alcohol-free and fragrance-free, vegan and cruelty-free, and accepted by the National Eczema Association.
How to use
- Cleanse first. Apply to clean skin — damp skin if you want to trap extra water underneath the oil phase.
- Leave it on. This is a leave-on treatment, not a mask. Smooth a thin layer over the face and leave it to absorb.
- Pick your role for it. Use it as a treatment step when your barrier feels compromised, or simply as your daily moisturiser if your skin runs dry.
- Order of layers. Because it is rich and oil-based, apply it after any water-based serums so it seals them in.
Tip: if your skin is currently stinging from actives, pause the actives for a few nights and use this alone. A barrier treatment works fastest when nothing is undoing it.
Is it right for you?
Yes, if your skin is…
- Dry, tight or flaking
- Sensitive and quick to flush
- Currently irritated and needing a reset
- Prone to eczema — the formula is accepted by the National Eczema Association
- Reactive to fragrance or alcohol in skincare
Think twice if your skin is…
- Oily and congestion-prone — this is a rich, oil-based texture
- Happiest in gel or lotion finishes
- Looking for an acne or pigmentation treatment; this one is about barrier support and hydration

Questions
Is this a treatment or a moisturiser?
Byoma says it can be either — run it as a treatment step when your barrier needs support, or as your everyday moisturiser if your skin is dry. The texture is rich enough to work on its own.
What is the Barrier Lipid Complex?
It is Byoma's own blend: a concentration of ceramide and skin-identical lipids suspended in an oil-based formula, designed to carry barrier-supporting actives into skin. The brand frames it as the oil-phase version of the Tri-Ceramide Complex used elsewhere in its range.
Can I use it if I have eczema or very reactive skin?
Byoma states the product is dermatologist tested and approved, free of alcohol and fragrance, and accepted by the National Eczema Association. It is still sensible to patch test on your jaw for a few nights, and we can't offer medical advice — speak to your dermatologist if you are treating a flare.
Does it contain fragrance or alcohol?
No — the brand lists it as both alcohol-free and fragrance-free, and it is vegan and cruelty-free.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery takes 3 to 21 working days, depending on availability. Stock we hold here ships at the shorter end; anything sourced for you lands toward the longer end. Working days exclude weekends and official holidays.
How can I pay, and what if there's a problem with my order?
Pay by credit card, debit card, Instapay or mobile wallets — there is no cash on delivery. If the tube arrives defective, damaged or expired, report it within 1 day of delivery with a photo; once verified we refund to your original payment method within 15 to 30 days. Change-of-mind returns aren't accepted on skincare.
