CALA Hot & Cold Eye Pads in the butterfly shape are a reusable gel-bead eye mask that works either way round: warm it in the microwave, or chill it in the freezer. CALA aims it at puffiness and tension around the eyes, and because the gel is sealed inside, there is nothing to apply and nothing to wash off.

What it actually does

• Works warm or cold. The same pad is microwavable and freezable, so cold for morning puffiness and warm for sinus pressure or tight, tired eyes.
• Reusable, with nothing to apply. The therapeutic gel is contained inside the pad — no serum, no residue, and it goes back in the freezer afterwards.

How to use

1. For warm use: put the pad in a clean microwave in 10-second bursts, checking between each one, until it reaches the warmth you want.
2. Always test it on your inner wrist before it goes near your eyes — short bursts exist precisely so you do not overheat it.
3. For cold use: keep it in the freezer so it is ready when you wake up puffy.
4. Lie back and rest it over closed eyes for a few minutes.
5. Wipe it clean and return it to the freezer or a drawer until next time.

Cold is the usual choice for puffiness and that heavy, swollen morning feeling. Warm suits the tension side of CALA’s list — sinus pain, headaches, and eyes that feel tight after a long screen day.

How long do I microwave it for?

CALA’s instruction is 10-second intervals in a clean microwave until you reach the warmth you want. Do not run it in one long burst — the pad goes on thin eyelid skin, so stop as soon as it feels pleasantly warm.

Can I reuse it?

Yes — that is the point of it. The therapeutic gel beads are sealed inside the pad, so it can be reheated or refrozen rather than thrown away after one session.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

CALA lists it for all skin types, and since nothing is applied to skin there is no formula to react to. The variable is temperature, so err on the mild side either way.
