Ceramide Serum

The INKEY List Ceramide Serum is a cream-textured treatment built around a 3% ceramide blend, aimed squarely at skin that reads dehydrated and a little deflated. Ceramides are lipids your own skin already produces, and the brand describes them as the glue holding skin cells together — so this is a barrier step rather than a brightening or exfoliating one. What it actually does

• Works at more than one depth. The INKEY List says the 3% ceramide blend acts at several levels within the skin, with dehydration as the target.
• Supports the barrier. Because ceramides help hold skin cells to one another, the brand positions this as a way to leave the barrier feeling rehydrated, supple and shielded.
• Adds a hydration layer on top. The 2.5% multi-molecular hyaluronic acid is there for an all-over rush of plumping moisture — different molecule sizes, one step.
• Reads as a cream, not a watery drop. It's described as a nourishing cream treatment, so expect more cushion than a typical thin serum.

How to use

1. Keep it to your evening routine. The brand suggests slotting it into PM skincare and letting it stand in for your moisturiser.
2. Use a pea-sized amount. That's the recommended dose — more isn't the point here.
3. Pat, don't drag. Press it gently into face and neck as the final step of the routine.
4. Two to three nights a week. This isn't positioned as a nightly product, so you can alternate it with your usual moisturiser.

Both labels fit awkwardly. The name says serum, the brand describes the texture as a nourishing cream treatment, and the instructions have it taking your moisturiser's place on the nights you use it. Treat it as a rich finishing step.

Can I still use my hyaluronic acid serum underneath?

Nothing in the brand's guidance rules it out — this already carries 2.5% multi-molecular hyaluronic acid of its own, so a separate one is optional rather than necessary. If your skin runs very dry, layering is reasonable.

Why only two or three times a week?

That's the frequency The INKEY List recommends for this particular formula. On the other evenings, carry on with your usual moisturiser.
