Paula's Choice CLINICAL Ceramide-Enriched Firming Moisturizer is the brand's heavyweight night cream for skin that has started to feel slack rather than simply dry. It pairs a mid-strength 0.1% retinol with ceramides and vitamin C in a creamy lotion base, so one step handles wrinkle-smoothing, firmness and moisture at the same time.
| Category | Firming retinol moisturiser |
| Retinol strength | 0.1% — described by Paula's Choice as mid-strength |
| Key actives | Ceramides · vitamin C · retinol · replenishing lipids |
| Texture | Creamy, smooth lotion |
| Frequency | Daily, per the brand's own direction |
What it actually does
- Targets lines you can already see. Paula's Choice positions this as a formula that visibly softens wrinkles rather than only preventing them, driven by the 0.1% retinol.
- Works on firmness, not just hydration. The brand's claim is a renewed firmer feel with continued daily use — which is why it sits in their CLINICAL tier.
- Feeds the barrier with lipids. The concentrated ceramide blend plus replenishing lipids is there to strengthen what the brand calls skin's healthy building blocks, leaving a more supple look and feel.
- Balances moisture levels. It is formulated to enhance moisture balance, so skin is less likely to swing between tight and greasy while retinol is doing its work.
- Adds vitamin C to the mix. Vitamin C sits alongside the retinol in a potent pairing the brand credits with plumping skin.
- One jar, two jobs. Because the retinol is carried in a cream, you are not layering a separate treatment and a separate moisturiser.
How to use
- Cleanse, then apply your toner or serum if you use one.
- Smooth a modest amount over face and neck as your final evening step. Paula's Choice directs daily use to keep skin firm and resilient.
- If retinol is new to you, start every third night and build up as your skin settles.
- Because retinol increases sun sensitivity, wear sunscreen every morning while you use it.
Is it right for you?
Yes, if you…
- See fine lines and want a retinol that moisturises properly too
- Feel your skin has lost bounce and resilience
- Like a rich, creamy lotion texture at night
- Have used a lower-strength retinol and want to step up
Think twice if you…
- Have never used retinol — 0.1% is not a beginner concentration
- Are very oily and prefer gel or fluid finishes to creams
- Already run a separate prescription or high-strength retinoid at night
- Are mid-flare with broken, stinging skin — settle it first
Questions
Is 0.1% retinol strong?
Paula's Choice label it mid-strength — above an entry-level retinol but not their most concentrated option. If your skin tolerates a beginner retinol comfortably, this is the logical next rung.
Do I still need a separate moisturiser?
Usually not. This is a creamy lotion with ceramides and lipids built in, so it is designed to hydrate while it treats. If your skin is very dry in winter you can add a plain occlusive balm over the top.
Morning or night?
Night is the sensible slot for any retinol product. Reserve your mornings for sunscreen, which you should not skip while using this.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery takes 3 to 21 working days, depending on availability. Pieces already on our shelves ship at the fast end of that window; anything we bring in for you takes longer. Working days exclude weekends and official holidays.
How can I pay?
Credit card, debit card, Instapay and mobile wallets. We do not offer cash on delivery.
What if it arrives damaged?
Returns cover defective, damaged or expired items only, and the issue must be reported within 1 day of delivery. Once we verify it, your refund goes back to the original payment method within 15–30 days.
