What it actually does

• Builds instead of overloading. One pass gives lashes that look like your own, slightly amplified; repeat passes take it toward the bolder end. You decide where to stop.
• Adds volume and length at the same time. Clinique positions it as doing both, so you are not choosing between a thickening and a lengthening formula.
• Deepens lash colour. The pigment load is intensely black, which is what makes the lash line read as more dramatic even before you add thickness.
• Separates as it coats. The soft fibre bristles are designed to comb through and define lashes, and the formula is made to resist clumping.

How to use

1. Start at the roots. Place the brush at the base of the lashes and wiggle it as you travel up to the tips — that root wiggle is where the thickness comes from.
2. Repeat to build. Add coats until you reach the look you want, letting each one dry first so it does not clump.
3. Lower lashes: turn the wand vertical and work along them.
4. Do not pump the wand. Pumping pushes air into the tube and dries the formula out early.
5. Take it off properly. Clinique recommends removing it with one of their eye makeup removers.

Can I wear it with contact lenses?

Yes. Clinique lists it as safe for contact lens wearers and safe for sensitive eyes, and it is ophthalmologist tested and fragrance free.

Will it clump if I add more coats?

The formula is made to resist clumping, and Clinique's own tip is to let each coat dry before the next one. Rushing wet coat onto wet coat is what causes clumps with any mascara.

Why should I avoid pumping the wand?

Pumping forces air into the tube, which dries the mascara faster. Clinique calls this out directly in the directions — twist the wand out instead.
