What it actually does

• Gives a wet-looking glow, not a metallic stripe. Benefit positions the finish as sheer and effortless, which is why it reads as healthy skin rather than obvious highlighter.
• Blends without disturbing what is underneath. The brand describes it as blending on seamlessly, and it is built to layer with your other complexion products rather than fight them.
• Moisturises while it glows. Sunflower seed oil brings omega-6 fatty acid to soften the feel of skin, while hyaluronic acid and glycerin hold on to its moisture.
• Works on tone over time. Niacinamide is in the formula to help skin tone look brighter and more even — a skincare benefit stacked on top of the cosmetic one.
• Non-comedogenic and longwearing. Both claims come from Benefit, meaning it is formulated not to clog pores and is intended to hold its glow through the day.

1. Warm it on your fingertips. This is a fingers product — no brush or sponge needed.

Can I mix it into my foundation?

Benefit's own instruction is to apply it with fingertips over the whole face, on bare skin or on top of makeup. It is specifically made to play well with complexion products, so layering it under or over foundation is the intended use.

Will it break me out?

The formula is non-comedogenic, meaning it is designed not to block pores. The ingredient list also leaves out mineral oil, parabens, phthalates and sulfates SLS and SLES, among others. As with any new face product, patch test if your skin is reactive.

Is this skincare or makeup?

Both, in practice. The glow is cosmetic and instant, but the niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, glycerin and sunflower seed oil are there to brighten and moisturise over continued use.
