Kosas Mini DreamBeam SPF 40 PA++++ is a silicone-free mineral sunscreen that doubles as makeup prep. It protects with non-nano zinc oxide while ceramides, peptides and hyaluronic acid handle the skincare side, and it melts in smoothly enough that foundation goes on over it without grabbing.

What it actually does

• Mineral protection at SPF 40 PA++++. The filter is 21.7% non-nano zinc oxide, which Kosas describes as an optimal physical barrier — no chemical filters involved.
• Doubles as a base. It sinks in rather than sitting on top, so makeup applies smoothly over it instead of pilling.
• Plumps and smooths with peptides and ceramides. Per the brand, these visibly smooth the surface and help improve suppleness.
• Hydrates and calms. Hyaluronic acid and allantoin are in the formula to add water and soothe.
• Visibly brightens and, per Kosas, defends against signs of ageing.
• Built for easier skin. It's water-resistant, hypoallergenic, non-acnegenic and described by the brand as safe for sensitive skin.

SPF rates protection against UVB, the rays behind burning. PA++++ is the highest grade on the Asian rating scale for UVA — the rays tied to ageing and pigmentation. So you're covered on both fronts, not just sunburn.

Can I wear makeup over it?
