Think of Drunk Elephant F-Balm™ Electrolyte Waterfacial as a sports drink for parched skin. It's a cooling overnight mask that goes on as the last step at night and uses an electrolyte cocktail — coconut water, sodium PCA, magnesium PCA and prickly pear — to plump and rehydrate while you sleep.
What it actually does
- Rehydrates with electrolytes. The four-part blend combines humectants and antioxidant-rich extracts that the brand says help skin hold onto water, support barrier strength and calm redness.
- Feeds the barrier. Niacinamide, ceramides, plant squalane and omega fatty acids work on what Drunk Elephant describes as "hungover", dehydrated skin — softening it and improving the look of uneven tone and texture.
- Smooths visible signs of aging. Niacinamide (vitamin B3) is included for fine lines, loss of firmness and uneven tone.
- Adds emollience with vitamin F beads. Linolenic and linoleic fatty acids deliver extra soothing moisture as the mask sits overnight.
- Leaves out the irritants. No essential oils, silicones, fragrance or PEGs. Vegan and cruelty-free.
- Brand-reported study. In an 8-week consumer-perception study of 30 people, 93% agreed skin felt softer and 90% agreed it felt smoother and more hydrated. Self-reported — results vary.
How to use
- At night, apply 4–5 pumps as the final step of your routine.
- Sleep in it — it's designed to be worn overnight.
- For extra moisture, layer it over a facial oil; Drunk Elephant suggests its Virgin Marula Oil (sold separately).
- The brand's tip: apply it over T.L.C. Framboos™ (sold separately) for gentle overnight exfoliation plus hydration.
Is it right for you?
Yes, if…
- Your skin feels dry, tight or rough-textured
- You want hydration without fragrance or essential oils
- Your skin is normal, dry, combination or oily
Think twice if…
- You're after an active treatment — this hydrates and supports, it doesn't exfoliate or brighten on its own
- You prefer a minimal routine with no overnight masks
Questions
Do I use it instead of my night moisturiser?
It goes on as the last step of your nighttime routine, so it sits where a night cream would. You can also layer it over a facial oil if your skin wants more.
Is it heavy or greasy?
Drunk Elephant describes it as cooling and quenching — a water-based mask with humectants rather than a thick occlusive balm, with vitamin F beads for a touch of emollience.
