HEARTLEAF PORE CONTROL CLEANSING OIL

Anua's Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil is the first half of a double cleanse. It melts makeup, sunscreen and the oil your skin has produced during the day, including the gritty filaments that collect inside pores — then rinses off with water so a foaming cleanser can do the rest. The bottle holds 200 ml and dispenses by pump.

What it actually does

• Removes makeup properly. Makeup removal is one of the two benefits Anua lists, and oil dissolves oil-based products in a way water-based cleansers can't.
• Clears out pores. The brand says it breaks down sebaceous filaments and sebum sitting inside pores — the part most people never get to with a single cleanse.
• Built for double cleansing. Anua frames it as the essential first step, not a standalone wash.
• Suits sensitive skin. Anua lists the skin types as all, including sensitive.
• Emulsifies and rinses away. Adding water turns the oil milky so it lifts off cleanly instead of leaving a film.
• Positioned as a glass-skin step. That is the brand's own framing — clearing the surface first is what makes everything applied afterwards look smoother.

How to use

1. Two or three pumps, dry hands. Water on your palms at this stage breaks the oil down too early.
2. Massage onto a dry face. Work in slow circles over makeup and sunscreen for thirty seconds or so.
3. Emulsify with water. Add a little water and keep massaging until the oil turns milky and the makeup lifts.
4. Rinse with warm water. Take your time around the hairline and jaw.
5. Follow with a water-based cleanser. This removes any remaining oil and completes the double cleanse.

Do I have to follow it with another cleanser?

Yes. Anua's instructions end with a water-based cleanser, and skipping it is the usual reason people say an oil cleanser left them greasy or caused breakouts.

Will an oil cleanser clog my pores?

It is designed to do the opposite — pore care is one of the two benefits the brand lists, and the oil is meant to be emulsified and rinsed off entirely rather than left on the skin.

Can I use it in the morning?

You can, but it is most useful at night when there is makeup, sunscreen and a day's worth of sebum to break down. In the morning a water-based cleanser alone is usually enough.

Does it remove eye makeup?

Oil cleansers dissolve mascara and liner well, but work slowly and keep your eyes closed while you massage, then rinse thoroughly. If it stings, rinse with plenty of water straight away.
