KVD Beauty Lock-It Setting Powder is a loose translucent powder for the last step of a base routine — the one that stops foundation and concealer from moving. It is light in coverage and matte in finish, and KVD designs the shade to read as colourless rather than as a pale cast, so it is meant to work across a wide span of skin tones.
| Shade | Translucent — standard size, 0.67 oz |
| Format | Loose powder |
| Coverage / finish | Light coverage · matte finish |
| Skin types | Normal · dry · combination · oily |
| Free from | Parabens · phthalates — vegan and cruelty-free too |
What it actually does
- Locks a base in place. This is a setting powder first: it holds foundation and concealer where you put them so the finish stays put instead of sliding.
- Blurs the look of pores. KVD credits a micro-blurring technology in the formula with softening how pores read on camera, landing on what the brand calls a velvety matte, photo-ready result.
- Mattifies without adding colour. Coverage is rated light, so it cuts shine rather than building a second layer of makeup over your foundation.
- Built to disappear. The brand's position is that this translucent shade stays undetectable across a range of skin tones — the thing most translucent powders get wrong on deeper skin.
- Weightless on the skin. KVD describes the powder as weightless, which is the point of a loose format: you can set an area without feeling a layer sitting on it.
- Works on dry skin as well as oily. The formula is rated for normal, dry, combination and oily skin, so it is not only a shine-control product for oily types.
How to use
- Finish your base first. Foundation and concealer go on before any powder.
- Tap a small amount into the lid. Loose powder is easy to over-pour — work from the cap, not the jar.
- Press, don't sweep. Use a damp sponge or a dense powder brush and press it onto the areas that crease or shine: under the eyes, the T-zone, the sides of the nose.
- Dust off the excess. A clean fluffy brush over the top removes any powder that didn't bind to the base.
- Keep it for touch-ups. A light press over shine mid-day works better than adding more foundation.
Is it right for you?
Yes, if…
- You want a matte, locked-down base
- Your skin is normal, dry, combination or oily — all four are covered
- You are photographed often and want pores softened
- You prefer a loose powder you can control in small amounts
- You want a parabens- and phthalates-free, vegan formula
Think twice if…
- You want a dewy or glowy finish — this one sets matte
- You need powder that adds coverage; this is light by design
- You want a tinted powder matched to your shade rather than a translucent one
- You avoid talc; it appears high in the ingredient list
- You want a pressed compact for your bag rather than loose powder
Questions
Will it leave a white cast on deeper skin?
KVD's stated aim with this shade is the opposite: a universal translucent that stays undetectable across a range of skin tones. As with any translucent powder, press it in and dust off the excess rather than packing it on.
Can I use it if my skin is dry?
Yes — dry skin is one of the four types the formula is rated for. Keep it to the areas that actually crease or shine instead of the whole face, since the finish is matte.
Does it contain talc?
Yes. Talc sits second in the ingredient list, after mica. The formula is free of parabens and phthalates, and is vegan and cruelty-free.
Is it a setting powder or a finishing powder?
Setting. Its job is to hold the base you have already applied and mattify it, with light coverage — not to replace foundation or to add its own colour.
