Lancôme Advanced Génifique Yeux Youth Activating & Light Infusing Eye Cream is the eye-area version of the brand's best-known serum franchise, and it's aimed squarely at the two things people notice in the mirror: lines and shadows. Lancôme says it visibly minimises the appearance of wrinkles and dark circles under the eye while leaving the area looking brighter. It's also formulated for sensitive eyes.

1. Use it morning and evening on clean skin, after serum and before SPF in the daytime.
2. Take a small amount — less than you think — and dot it around the orbital bone, not right up against the lash line.
3. Tap it in with your ring finger until it disappears. Pulling or dragging the eye area gains you nothing.
4. Let it settle for a minute before concealer so nothing pills.

Can I use it if my eyes are sensitive?

Lancôme states the cream is suitable for sensitive eyes. That said, it does contain fragrance and alcohol denat., so if you know you react to those, patch test on the outer corner for a few nights before committing to twice-daily use.

Does it work under makeup?

Yes. Apply a thin layer, give it a moment to absorb, then go in with concealer. The light-reflecting minerals in the formula mean it already lends the area a bit of brightness on its own.

Do I need the Génifique serum too?

No — this stands alone as an eye treatment. They share the bifida ferment lysate base, so people who use both tend to like the consistency, but the eye cream doesn't depend on the serum to do its job.
