MAKEOUT CLUB Lip Stick is Freck Beauty's soft-blur lipstick — a medium to full coverage bullet with a diffused matte finish rather than a flat, drying one. It is built to stay put for a working day without transferring or creeping into the lines around the lip, and it comes in seven shades across a range of depths.

What it actually does

• Blurred edges, not a hard line. The finish is a buildable soft matte, so colour looks diffused into the lip instead of painted on. Press it on lightly for a stain effect, or layer for close to full opacity.
• Holds for about eight hours. Freck Beauty rates the wear at eight hours, transfer-proof and feather-free — the two things that usually go wrong with a long-wear lip.
• Conditioning ingredients instead of a drying base. The formula includes Royal Orchid Extract, which the brand says reinforces and hydrates the lips, plus Magnolia Bark Extract for its anti-inflammatory properties.
• Vegan lanolin for cushion. It is there to keep the bullet feeling padded and comfortable on the lip rather than stiff.
• What the brand's own panel reported. In Freck Beauty's consumer testing, everyone tested said their lips felt nourished and moisturised on application and that the finish looked soft and smooth; 97% called it highly pigmented, and 87% said their lips looked fuller. At the eight-hour mark, 90% reported no bleeding or feathering and 84% found it smudge-proof. These are self-reported figures from the brand, so read them as indicative.
• Seven shades. The range spans light to deep, which means there is usually something wearable whether you want a neutral or a statement.

2. Blend outwards. Press with a fingertip towards the edges to get the blurred border rather than a sharp one.

It is not built like a traditional liquid matte. Vegan lanolin keeps the texture cushioned, and the brand's panel reported lips feeling moisturised both on application and after a full day of wear. If your lips are flaking already, exfoliate and use a balm the night before — any matte will cling to dry patches.

Do I need a lip liner with it?

Not for the sake of wear — the formula is rated feather-free on its own. Skip the liner if you want the blurred edge the product is designed for; use one only if you specifically want a sharper outline.
