Master Mattes® Liquid Liner

MAKEUP BY MARIO Master Mattes® Liquid Liner is a pro-grade liquid liner: dense pigment, a sharp felt tip with just enough flex to follow the lash line, and a waterproof formula that grips the lid and stays where you drew it. If your usual complaint about liners is that they fade, grey out or transfer onto the upper lid, this is written as the answer to that.

What it actually does

• Lays down definition in one stroke. The brand calls the pigment level extreme, which in practice means you should not need to go back over a line to make it opaque.
• Gives you control, not a wobble. The felt tip is sharp but flexible — firm enough to place a fine line, soft enough to follow the curve of the lid.
• Grips and stays. MAKEUP BY MARIO describes the formula as bulletproof: it holds to the lid and resists smudging entirely, which is the whole point of a waterproof liner.
• Hides the lash band. The brand recommends it as the last step over false lashes to conceal where the band meets your lash line — a genuinely useful trick.
• Clean-formula credentials. Free of parabens, plus vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free.

How to use

1. Set yourself up properly. The brand's own advice: work in front of a mirror and brace your elbow against a flat surface so your hand is not floating.
2. Tilt your head up. Looking up into the mirror opens the lid and gives you a clear line to draw along.
3. Draw along the lash line with the sharp edge of the tip, building thickness in short strokes rather than one long drag.
4. Lashes last. If you are wearing falsies, apply them first and run the liner over the band at the end to disguise it.

Removal: waterproof liner needs an oil-based or dual-phase remover — hold a soaked pad against the lash line for a few seconds rather than rubbing at it.

Is the tip a pen or a brush?

A felt tip — sharp at the point, with some flex through the body. It handles like a pen, so if you are used to brush liners expect a firmer, more controlled feel.

Can I fix a wing after it dries?

Once a waterproof, smudge-proof formula sets, it does not move — which is the feature, not a flaw. Tidy the edge while it is still wet, or clean it up afterwards with a flat brush dipped in a bi-phase remover rather than trying to blend it.

Will it survive a long day or a wedding?

The brand's own words are long-lasting, waterproof and completely smudge-proof, and it is built as a pro formula. That is the use case it is designed for.
