What it actually does

• Wraps the body in an aromatic blend. Elemis describes the scent as recalling the calm of the sea, and the effect as restorative and relaxing rather than energising.
• Sinks in fast. The oil is formulated to stay lightweight and absorb quickly, so it is not the kind you have to wait out in a towel.
• Rosemary for tension and stress. The brand notes rosemary's long topical history as a mild pain reliever and a way to ease stress.
• Pine for muscle tension. Elemis points to pine essential oil's traditional aromatherapy use for soothing, with an uplifting scent it links particularly to tight muscles.
• Seaweed with a traceable source. The Laminaria Digitata is wild harvested by hand off the Atlantic coast of west Ireland, and Elemis notes seaweeds are known to carry a broad range of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

How to use

1. Warm a little between your palms, then massage over the areas that feel tight — shoulders, lower back, legs.
2. Best on clean skin, straight after a shower or bath while the skin is still warm.

Will it leave my clothes oily?

It is formulated to be lightweight and fast absorbing, and 95% of Elemis trial participants agreed it felt light on skin. Still, give it a short moment to settle before you get dressed.

Is the packaging recyclable?

Partly. Elemis lists the glass bottle, LDPE plug and cardboard inner liner as recyclable, while the mixed-plastic cap and outer carton go to general waste. Check your local facility's rules first. The brand says it is working toward packaging that is fully recyclable, reusable or refillable.
