What it actually does

• Covers the lid in one sweep. The head is wide and plush, so a single pass lays colour across the whole mobile lid instead of in patches.
• Softens hard edges. Fenty Beauty built it for what they describe as a soft-focus effect — the loose tip breaks up any line where two shades meet.
• Lays pigment evenly. Because the fibres are soft and not tightly bound, they release product gradually rather than dumping it in one place.
• Handles bold looks. The brand notes it is made to blend out strong eye looks, which is exactly where a dense, stiff brush tends to leave stripes.
• Works clean, too. With no shadow on it at all, it becomes a dedicated buffing brush for smoothing colour you have already applied.

How to use

1. Tap off first. Load lightly and knock the excess away — a plush head picks up more powder than you think.
2. Sweep across the lid. Use light pressure and a side-to-side motion to put down your base shade.
3. Then go in with nothing on it. Wipe the brush and use it dry in small circles where two shades meet to erase the join.
4. Keep it clean. Wash with gentle shampoo or brush cleanser every couple of weeks and dry the head flat, bristles pointing slightly down.

Can I use it for cream eyeshadow?

Fenty Beauty describes this one specifically around eyeshadow application and blending. Synthetic fibres do cope with creams, but a fluffy head of this kind is at its best on powder — for creams, a denser, flatter brush or your fingertip gives more control.

Do I need a second eye brush as well?

If you only ever do a one-shade wash, this covers it. For defined crease work or packing deeper colour onto the lid you will want something narrower and firmer alongside it — this brush is deliberately loose.
