Drunk Elephant Slaai™ Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser starts as a solid balm, turns to an oil as you massage, then becomes a milk when you add water — taking makeup, sunscreen and the day's grime with it. Even water-resistant formulas dissolve, and skin is left dewy rather than stripped.

What it actually does

• Dissolves everything in one step. The balm-to-oil-to-milk texture breaks down dirt, makeup and sunscreen, including stubborn water-resistant products, without scrubbing.
• Cleanses with African oils. Marula, baobab, kalahari melon seed, mongongo and ximenia oils do the lifting while also protecting and nourishing skin, per the brand.
• Soothes with a "fruit salad" blend. Non-fragrant blueberry, kiwi and strawberry extracts plus cranberry, acai and watermelon seed oils comfort and moisturise as you cleanse.
• Pairs with gentle exfoliation. Bamboo and charcoal powder are part of the system to buff away built-up dead surface skin.

How to use

1. In the evening, massage the balm over your dry face and eyes with dry fingertips.
2. Wet your hands and keep massaging — the oil turns milky.
3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry, or wipe away with a soft damp cloth.
4. Optional, 1–2 mornings a week: mix in Drunk Elephant's Bamboo Booster™ for a physical exfoliation that clears overnight build-up. The brand advises skipping this (or going gently) if you're on retinol.
