MERIT Solo Shadow is a single-pan cream eye colour that comes in two finishes — the Sheens and the Mattes. Both are built to be applied with a fingertip rather than a palette of brushes, which is the whole point: one shade, one swipe, done. MERIT states it is ophthalmologist-tested and suitable for people who wear contact lenses.
What it actually does
- Two finishes, one format. The Sheens lay down a see-through veil of pearlescent, shiny colour. The Mattes are a cream-to-powder that dries down soft-matte.
- Buildable rather than all-or-nothing. Both finishes start as a light wash and can be layered up if you want more depth.
- Sits flat, not creased. MERIT says the Sheens hold for 12 hours with no creasing, flaking or fallout, and that the formula won't settle into fine lines; the Mattes are described the same way on creasing and fallout.
- Light-reflecting pearls (Sheens). Microfine pearls bounce light for a softly multidimensional effect instead of glitter.
- Skin-care-style extras in the Mattes. Per MERIT, chamomile and calendula extracts are included as antioxidant and calming ingredients for the lid, magnolia bark extract and peptides are there to smooth, and sunflower seed oil to nourish.
- Fingers or a brush. Designed to work with a fingertip, or with MERIT's Brush No. 2 when you want sharper placement.
- Eye-safe credentials. MERIT lists it as ophthalmologist tested and approved, and fine for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
How to use
- Warm it up. Tap a fingertip into the pan — a cream formula moves more easily once it has picked up a little skin warmth.
- Place before you blend. Press colour onto the centre of the lid first, then diffuse outwards towards the socket line.
- Build if you want depth. Add a second thin layer rather than one heavy one; both finishes are meant to be layered.
- Switch to Brush No. 2 for detail. Use it along the lash line or to keep an outer-corner shade tidy.
Is it right for you?
Yes, if…
- You want a one-shade eye look with no palette and no brush set
- You wear contact lenses or have eyes that water easily
- You prefer cream textures over pressed powder
- You like choosing between a pearl finish and a flat matte
Think twice if…
- You want opaque, full-coverage pigment in one pass — this starts sheer by design
- You're after chunky glitter; the Sheens are fine pearl, not sparkle
- You build complex multi-shade looks and would rather have a full palette
Questions
What's the difference between the Sheens and the Mattes?
The Sheens are a blendable cream with microfine pearl, so you get shine and a light-catching finish. The Mattes go on as a cream and set to powder with no shine at all, and they're the ones MERIT builds the chamomile, calendula, peptide and sunflower seed oil story around.
Do I need a brush?
No. Both finishes are made to be applied with your fingers. A brush — MERIT suggests their Brush No. 2 — is only for when you want more precise placement.
Is it alright for contact lenses and sensitive eyes?
MERIT describes it as ophthalmologist-tested and approved, and safe for both sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. As always, if your eyes are reactive, try one lid first before a full day of wear.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery takes 3 to 21 working days, depending on availability. Items already in stock arrive at the shorter end of that window; anything we bring in for you takes longer. Working days exclude weekends and official holidays.
How can I pay, and what if something is wrong with my order?
We accept credit card, debit card, Instapay and mobile wallets — there is no cash on delivery. Returns are accepted for defective, damaged or expired items only, reported within 1 day of delivery; once verified, your refund goes back to the original payment method within 15–30 days.
