saie's The Base Brush is a flat-top foundation brush with some give in it — densely packed so it can carry a liquid base, but flexible enough to bend with the shape of your face. The bristle surface is engineered to release product steadily, so less of your foundation disappears into the brush head.

What it actually does

• Dense but not rigid. saie describes the head as dense yet flexible, which is what lets a flat-top brush follow the curve of a cheek or the sides of the nose without skipping.
• Wastes less product. The brand points to the brush's particular bristle surface as the reason product spreads out instead of soaking into the head.
• Ultrasoft on the skin. The synthetic bristles are specified as ultrasoft — relevant if you press rather than stipple and don't want texture dragged across the skin.
• Built around buildable coverage. You can keep it sheer with one layer, or press in a second where you want more, without the base turning cakey.
• saie's intended pairing. The brand recommends it with Glowy Super Skin Lightweight Hydrobounce Serum Foundation and Glowy Super Gel Lightweight Dewy Highlighter, both sold separately.
• Clean-formula list. Free of parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, sulfates (SLS/SLES), formaldehydes and formaldehyde-releasing agents, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, retinyl palmitate, triclosan and triclocarban, with under 1% synthetic fragrance.

How to use

1. Dispense half a pump to a full pump of liquid foundation straight onto the brush head rather than onto your hand.
2. Press the flat top into the skin to build coverage, or swipe downward in long strokes for a lighter, smoother layer.
3. Keep working the product until nothing sits on the surface unblended — downward strokes keep facial hair lying flat.
4. Wash it with a mild soap and water to keep the bristles soft and the coverage even.

Press or swipe — which gives better results?

Both are in saie's own instructions. Pressing with the flat top builds more coverage in one spot; swiping downward spreads a thinner, more even veil. Most people swipe first for the whole face, then press where they want extra.

How much foundation do I need on it?

Half to one pump, applied directly to the brush. Starting at half a pump is the better habit — the brush releases product efficiently, so people usually over-dispense at first.

How do I clean and dry it properly?

Mild soap and water, as the brand instructs. Swirl the bristles gently, rinse until the water runs clear, squeeze out the excess in a towel, then dry it flat with the head overhanging a shelf edge so water doesn't pool where the bristles meet the handle.

How long does delivery take?
