The Original Cheeky

The Original Cheeky is Beautyblender's blush-specific sponge — mid-sized, grapefruit-coloured, and shaped to put colour exactly where you want it. It exists because a full-size sponge picks up too much blush and your fingers pick up too little control. The brand's aqua-activated™ foam does the rest, keeping pigment on your cheeks rather than inside the sponge.

What it actually does

• Doses blush properly. The mid-size format is built to pick up a measured amount of colour, which is how you avoid the two-stripe clown-cheek problem.
• Handles cream and powder. Beautyblender sized it for both formula types, so it works whether your blush is a stick, a liquid or a pan.
• Blends without marks. No fingerprints pressed into the product, no hard streaks at the edges of the colour.
• Absorbs very little. The aqua-activated™ material is designed to hold onto water, not pigment, which is where the airbrushed look comes from.
• The grapefruit colour has a purpose. The brand chose that shade so you can read your blush's undertone against the sponge as you work.

How to use

1. Wet it, then squeeze. The foam is activated by water — soak it, wring it out firmly, and pat it on a towel.
2. Pick up a little colour. Tap the rounded side into cream blush, or load powder lightly. Less than you think.
3. Bounce onto the apples. Short dabbing taps rather than dragging — dragging moves your base around underneath.
4. Diffuse the edge. Work outwards toward the temple with lighter taps until there is no line where the blush stops.
5. Clean it after use. Blush pigment sets into foam fast, so wash with a gentle cleanser and let it dry in open air.

Can I use it for foundation too?

You can, but it is smaller than a standard face sponge, so covering the whole face takes longer. It was designed around cheek placement — that is where it earns its keep.

Powder blush or cream blush — which works better?

Beautyblender built it for both. Damp foam is especially good with creams and liquids; with powder, tap off the excess first, because a damp sponge will grab more pigment than a brush would.

Why is the sponge pink-orange?

The grapefruit tone is deliberate. Against that background you can see whether the blush you have picked up leans warm or cool before it reaches your face.

How long does delivery take?
