The POREfessional Smooth Sip is Benefit's water-based gel-cream — a moisturiser built around the pore question rather than around richness. It sinks in fast, holds hydration for the day, and works on the look of pores and uneven texture over time.

What it actually does

• Softens how pores read. Niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, is the ingredient Benefit credits here for smoothing the appearance of pores.
• Hydrates without weight. The base is water-led, and Benefit lists squalane and aloe leaf juice as the pair keeping moisture levels up — the brand positions hydration as lasting up to all day.
• Works on texture over weeks. Celery seed and flaxseed extracts bring omega-3 and peptides, which the brand links to visibly better surface texture.
• Absorbs quickly. Benefit describes skin feeling soft, nourished and refreshed straight after use, with a more even look developing with continued use.
• Formulated with a long exclusion list. No parabens, formaldehydes or formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, SLS and SLES sulfates, triclocarban or triclosan, and under one percent synthetic fragrance.

How to use

1. Cleanse first. Apply over the face and down the neck while skin is clean.
2. Twice a day. Benefit recommends it both morning and evening.
3. Before makeup. The brand's own tip is to follow with The POREfessional Pore Minimizing Primer, sold separately, for a smoother base.
4. Finish with SPF in the morning. This is a moisturiser, not a sunscreen.

Is it enough on its own for dry skin?

It is listed for dry skin as well as oily, and squalane plus aloe leaf juice are there to hold moisture. If your skin is very dry in winter you may still want a richer layer at night on top.

Can I wear it under foundation?

Yes — it is described as absorbing quickly, which is what you want under makeup. Benefit suggests adding their pore-minimising primer between this and foundation if you want a flatter finish.

How long until I see a difference in texture?

Hydration is immediate per the brand. The texture and pore claims came from the one-month point of Benefit's participant study, so plan on daily use for roughly four weeks before judging it.
