Tatcha The Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream is a rich, cushiony treatment for the eye area aimed at firmness and the look of wrinkles. It melts in rather than sitting on top, which is also why the brand positions it as the eye cream that makes concealer go on more smoothly.

What it actually does

• Reduces the look of wrinkles. Whey protein is the fortifying ingredient Tatcha credits with that, and this reformulation added it.
• Visibly firms and plumps. Silk protein — there's more of it than in the previous version — nourishes and smooths fine, dry lines.
• Supports the barrier and holds moisture. Japanese white peony handles that side of the formula.
• Improves how makeup sits. Filling in fine lines is what the brand links to a smoother, more even concealer and foundation finish around the eyes.
• Texture: a rich cream that melts on contact.
• Formula notes: gluten-free, cruelty-free, recyclable packaging, and made without mineral oil, phthalates, parabens, formaldehydes plus formaldehyde-releasing agents, oxybenzone, retinyl palmitate, hydroquinone, coal tar, triclosan, triclocarban and SLS/SLES sulfates, with under one percent synthetic fragrance.

Brand-reported results

All from Tatcha's clinical testing on 40 panelists. Novameter bio-instrumentation, immediately after application: double the moisturisation. Self-assessment at two weeks: 97% agreed it stops makeup settling into fine lines. At four weeks: 95% agreed fine lines and wrinkles were less visible and 95% agreed the skin around their eyes felt firmer. Expert grading 15 minutes after application: dry fine lines looked better, and radiance was enhanced. Brand study figures — individual results vary.

How to use

1. Take a rice-grain-sized amount per eye, using the included spoon or your fingers.
2. Massage it gently around each eye.
3. Twice a day — morning and night.

Recycling: lift out the spoon applicator, then twist the gold loop off the cap anticlockwise. Jar and cap go in recycling together; the spoon and loop are discarded.

Is this the same formula as before?

No — it's a reformulated version. Tatcha added whey protein, increased the silk protein content and brought in white peony.

Do I have to use the spoon?

Fingers work too — Tatcha's instructions allow either. The spoon keeps the jar hygienic and makes it easier to measure the small amount you need.

How much should I use?

A rice-grain-sized amount for each eye, morning and evening. It's a rich cream, so more than that around the eyes tends to feel heavy rather than work faster.
