Charlotte's Magic Hydration Revival Cleanser starts out as a milky cream and turns to a light foam once water hits it. It lifts makeup and the day off your face without that stripped, squeaky feeling, and Charlotte Tilbury positions it as three jobs in one — cleanse, refine, hydrate.

What it actually does

• Cleanses and takes makeup off in the same step. The cream-to-foam texture is built to clear away makeup and daily build-up while leaving skin feeling comfortable rather than tight.
• Leaves hydration behind after rinsing. Hyaluronic acid is the headline ingredient here, and the brand's claim is that skin still feels hydrated and plumper once the water is gone.
• Works on pores and tone. A peptide complex in the formula is credited by Charlotte Tilbury with visibly refining pores and evening out tone and texture over time.
• Supports the barrier. The brand's Biomimetic Barrier Shield technology is described as replenishing and protecting the skin barrier so water does not escape.
• Brand-tested. In Charlotte Tilbury's own clinical study on 33 people, hydration doubled immediately and held for 24 hours, with smoother, clearer-looking skin reported after a week and reduced-looking pores after two. Self-reported and brand-run, so treat it as the brand's claim.

How to use

1. Squeeze a small amount into your palm — you need less than you think.
2. Add warm water and rub your hands together until it turns foamy.
3. Spread it over the whole face and massage, going gently around the eyes.
4. Rinse with warm water. Use it morning and evening.
5. Charlotte Tilbury suggests following with either Magic Cream or the Magic Water Cream to revive skin and prep it before makeup.

If any gets in your eyes, flush them with plenty of warm water.
